Information Literacy:
As stated in Information Power (American Library Association and the Association for Educational Communications and Technology, 1998) "Information literacy - understanding how to access and use information-is at the core of lifelong learning" (p. vii). The library, in collaboration with PW teachers works with our students so that they learn how to access and use information in a logical, critical and well defined manner in order to create a product. The research model used at PW is the Big 6 Research Process. Developed by Mike Eisenberg and Bob Berkowitz, the Big6 provides an easy-to use approach for students which helps to guide them as they learn research skills. Our goal is to ensure that Pw students will use a variety of tools to help them incorpoate in a systematic process to find, use, apply, and evaluate information for specific needs and tasks.
