Top 10 Things you should know about
your middle school counselor

| 1. We regularly meet with teachers and discuss student successes and areas in which improvement is needed. If a consistent problem exists, we meet with the student, teacher, and/or parent to discuss strategies to help. |
| 2. We provide career enrichment through the FCS classes on a regular basis. There is also a 7th Grade Career Day organized by the counseling staff. |
| 3. We help students become involved in school community and extracurricular activities by encouraging sport, club, and volunteer participation. |
| 4. We help students decide on appropriate course enrollment to help prepare them for high school. |
| 5. We assist students in finding extra help when they need it. |
| 6. We help students identify broad career interests and research the academic preparation required in high school for success in their particular area of interest. |
| 7. We help students and parents with the transition process from elementary to middle school and middle to high school. |
| 8. We constantly and consistently advocate for the educational rights of students and help all students trust that they can be successful. We are members of the middle school Child Study Team and Scheduling Teams. |
| 9. We visit classrooms, run groups, and meet individually with students and parents to discuss and educate them about a plethora of academic, personal/social, and future planning concerns. |
