Welcome to the Colonial Middle School Hoops for Hope website.
Hoops for Hope represents two charity basketball events.
The Queen and King of the Court Tournaments support the Coaches vs. Cancer Chapter
of Philadephia. The Queen of the Court tournament takes place in December and the
King of the Court Tournament takes place in January. These are 8th grade
multi-school basketball tournaments held at CMS. If you are interested in
participating in one or both of the tournaments, please contact
Matt Doroshow at the contact information below.
Eight teams/schools participate in each event.
4 on 4 for a Cure supports the ALS Association of Greater Philadelphia and is
one of the largest middle school charity events in the Delaware Valley.
452 students participated in the 2012 tournament!
This represents the largest amount of participants in the
13 year history of 4 on 4 for a Cure.
Since 2009, 4 on 4 for a Cure has raised $24,170 for the
ALS Association of Greater Philadelphia.

Check Presentation to the ALS Association of Greater Philadelphia
4 on 4 for a Cure raised $5000 during the 2012 tournament

The "real" check presentation from Devon (President of the Hoops for
Hope Committee) to Rebecca from the ALS Association of Greater Philadelphia.

Mr. Barry Schultz performs the ceremonial opening tap to kick-off
the 2012 4 on 4 for a Cure tournament. The captains of the first two
teams to register for the 7th grade tournament (Julia - "The Sidekicks
and Ali - "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles") participated in the opening tap.

Miss Pennsylvania International - Julia Pauline and the World's Greatest Mascot - the
Phillie Phanatic kick off the 6th grade 4 on 4 for a Cure tournament as they
join Molly (Wonder Women) and Alec (Transformers) for the ceremonial opening tap.

Marissa Witman returns to 4 on 4 for a Cure to help out with the ceremonial opening tap
the 8th Grade Tournament. Marissa was the student responsible for establishing
4 on 4 at Colonial Middle School. She was joined by Amanda (Wonder Pets) and Jamie (The Office).

Miss Samantha Grossman, an originial 4 on 4 participant at Ridley Middle School,
continues the tradition of connecting 4 on 4 past with 4 on 4 present. She participated
in the ceremonial opening tap at the Sweet 16 day of 4 on 4. She was joined by
Lauryn (Team Iverson/6th Grade) and Adam (Fantastic 5-1/8th Grade).
