Soccer Unit
- I. Essential Purpose
-
In this Soccer unit, students in K-1 will focus on the basic fundamentals of passing, kicking, shooting and trapping. This will be followed by modified/small-sided soccer activities/games. Students in grades 2-3 will be reinforcing these skills, with more focus on other elements of the game (Goalkeeping, Throw-ins, Punting, and Strategies/Positions). The students will see an improvement in their level of skill and knowledge of the sport. This unit will provide students an opportunity for fun and socialization as well as give them the skills to enjoy this health-enhancing lifetime activity.

- Practice and constant movement in kicking games will improve upon my fitness.
- Kicking games can be played in a variety of settings (fields, walls, etc.) with a varying number of players.
- Soccer can help to provide relationships (friendships) with one or several people who enjoy playing and offers many opportunities for fun to occur.
- Practicing soccer skills will help to improve a player’s ability to play the game of soccer.
