Colonial Players receive
16 Cappies nominations
The Plymouth Whitemarsh High School Colonial
Players' 2012 production of "How To Succeed in Business
Without Really Trying" earned 16 nominations from the
Greater Philadelphia Cappies. The 16 nominations are the
most for a Colonial Players production and more than any
other high school this year.
The Cappies "Critics and Awards Program," trains
high school theater and journalism students from 34 area
schools as critics, has them attend shows at other
schools, and write reviews of those shows. At the
end of the season, the critics vote to determine
nominees and award winners in over 30 categories from
makeup and sound, to acting and dance. The Colonial
Players received nominations in 15 of the 23 categories
in which they were eligible. The nominees
are:

Two nominations in category
The winners will be announced at the annual
Cappies Gala in Upper Darby on May 6. The Colonial
Players will be performing their nominated song,
"Brotherhood of Man," at the event. Tickets are
available through the Upper Darby Performing Arts Center
box office.
Whitemarsh PD collecting
unused medication
The Whitemarsh Township Police Department is
again collecting unused, outdated and unwanted
medications. The goal is to safely dispose of
prescription or over the counter drugs, in an
environmentally friendly way, to avoid accidental
ingestion. The program is free and anonymous with no
paperwork to fill out. Simply drop your unwanted
medication off at the Whitemarsh Police Department, 616
E. Germantown Pike in Lafayette Hill between 10 a.m. and
2 p.m. this Saturday, April 28. You do not need to be a
Whitemarsh Township resident to take advantage of this
opportunity. The national Drug Take Back Program is held
in conjunction with the Drug Enforcement Agency.
CSD students dominate at
TSA state competition
Colonial Middle School (CMS) sent 20 students to
the Pennsylvania Technology Student Association (TSA)
Conference and 18 qualified for the TSA National
Conference June 21-25 in Nashville, Tenn. Plymouth
Whitemarsh High School (PWHS) qualified five students
for the national conference.
Lina Shi qualified in five events to lead the way for
CMS. Nicole Knudsen and Emily Dinda qualified for four
each, while Talene Tse and Sophia Gross both qualified
in three events. Individually, Shi placed second in
"Communication Challenge," She teamed with Dinda,
Knudsen, Patrick Byron, Carli Fine and Austin Betterly
to place first in "Agriculture and Biotechnology
Design." Tse, Dana Miller, Hanah Entwistle, Nathan Levy,
Gianna Rocca and Nicole Esposito placed third in the
same event.
Shi also teamed with Dinda and Elexis Bryan to
place third in "Community Service Video." She teamed
with Bryan, Dinda, Hanah Stern, Gross and Samantha Horry
to place first in "Invention and Innovations, and
collaborated with Byron and Jackson Versak to win "Tech
Bowl."
Dinda and Knudsen placed first in "Challenging
Technology Issues," while Horry, Tse and Wesley Deeg
were first in "Leadership Strategies." Gross placed
first individually in "Multimedia Production," and
teamed with Stern to place first in "Digital Video
Challenge." Knudsen was first individually in "Technical
Design."
For PWHS, Joe Narke placed first individually in
"Material Process." He teamed with Olvia Gum, Seamus
Malley and Jeff Varrone to place second in "Engineering
Design." Rachel Paciello placed first in "Biomedical
Essay." Paciello was also honored by the Pennsylvania
Society of Biomedical Engineers at their annual
dinner.
CITV on
Fanavision!
On April 13, students from Conshohocken
Elementary School and Ridge Park (RP) Elementary School
sang the National Anthem prior to the Phillies' game at
Citizen's Bank Park. RP Principal Dr. Michael McKenna
threw out the first pitch. Also, the Phillies' showed at

PWHS Writing Center wins
awards
Four Plymouth Whitemarsh High School (PWHS)
students and teacher Kimberly Geiger presented
information on the PWHS Writing Center at the
Mid-Atlantic Writing Center Association Annual
Conference at Shippensburg University in March. At the
event, PWHS senior Lauren Ravitch received the Peer
Tutor's Award for Scholarly Promise. Geiger was honored
with the High School and Community College Leaders
Award.

Raffle
The Plymouth Whitemarsh High School (PWHS)
Parent Teacher Student Organization (PTSO) is having a
raffle for a Senior Prom Basket. The Basket includes
Senior Prom tickets along with gift certificates for
tuxedo rental, salon services, flowers, and
accessories. Tickets are one for $10 or three for
$25 and can be purchased in the high school office. For

Reminders...
PWHS team to take part in
Walk Against Hate
Plymouth Whitemarsh High School (PWHS) will enter a team
in the Anti Defamation League's (ADL) Walk Against Hate
on Sunday, May 20. The entire CSD community is invited
to participate in this event. PWHS will be recertified
as a No Place For Hate school at the end of the walk. If
at least 25 individuals participate, the ADL will supply
bus transportation from PWHS. Click

The ADL's Walk Against Hate serves as one key component
of the broad-based approach that the ADL takes to combat

Flea Market cancelled
The Colonial Middle School PTO Flea Market scheduled for
Saturday, May 12 has been cancelled.
Plymouth Elementary PTO
Flea Market
The Plymouth Elementary School PTO is sponsoring a Flea
Market on Saturday, June 2 from 8:00 a.m. to noon on the
school grounds. Table spaces for vendors cost $15 each.
The PTO is also looking for volunteers to help set up,
take down and run the event. For more information or to

Whitemarsh Elementary
Carnival
The Whitemarsh Elementary PTO is holding its annual
Carnival on Wednesday May 2 from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
on the school grounds. There will be games, crafts and
prizes for kids of all ages. Tickets are 12 for $5 in
advance or 10 for $5 at the door. For more information
