Point of Sale Frequently Asked Questions

How it works

A student can predeposit money into their meal account to pay for breakfast or lunch meals. The student will enter a his/her designated pin number into the pin pad at the cafeteria register when making a purchase.  The amount of the meal is then automatically withdrawn from the account with each purchase made.

Advantages to the system include:
--Cafeteria lines move quicker, since cashiers do not have to make change; thus students have more time to eat.
--Do not need to worry about money being lost/stolen/forgotten on a daily basis.
--Better accountablility process for Food Service Department.

To participate in the program, please send cash or check made out to "CSD Food Service Department"  Please remember to place the student's first or last name and student ID# in the memo section of the check as well as on the outside of the envelope to insure prompt and accurate processing to the "Point of Sale" account.

Frequently Asked Questions:
1) How much money do I need to send in?
There is no minimum or maximum amount required.  Some parents prefer to pay weekly whereas others prefer monthly; it is your preference.

2) What happens to the money at the end of the year?
All remaining balances will be carried over to the next year.  If your child is graduating or leaving the district, a full refund will be provided.

3) How will I know when my child's balance is low?
Currently the Food Service Department sends Connect-Ed phone messages bi-weekly to inform parents of low meal account balances.  Upcoming goals include a system in which you can check balances and/or meal purchases on line and make payments as needed.

4) Can the money be used for anything in the cafeteria?
Elementary students can only use account money for breakfast or lunch, incluidng drinks; cash must be used for snacks or vending machine items.

5) What if I have questions about my account?
You may call the head cook at your child's school. Phone extensions may be found on the Food Services home page.
