Athletics Department
Red Flag Notification Policy
The Colonial School District Athletics and Facilities Management Departments take great pride in maintaining safe athletic fields for the enjoyment of our students and members of our community. In an effort to keep our fields in safe conditions at all times, we have implemented a method of communicating decisions regarding field usage under bad weather conditions. A decision will be made by the Colonial School District to close the fields if weather conditions render the fields unsafe for athletic activity or if, in our opinion, there is a potential for damage to our fields as a result of athletic activity. When a decision is made to close the fields at the Plymouth-Whitemarsh High School/Colonial Elementary School campus, red flags will be placed at the Victory Fields sign located in front of the Victory Fields complex, at the storage shed located in the front of the fields on the west side of the football stadium, at the baseball field located adjacent to the natatorium. At the Colonial Middle School campus red flags will be placed on the 3rd base fence line at the front baseball field (Belvoir Road), the backstop of the rear baseball field and on the storage hut adjacent to the football field by Maplewood Drive. If the red flags are in place, the fields are not to be used for any purpose whatsoever until further notice or until the red flags have been removed. For your convenience the Athletics Department will also provide field closing notification by way of E-mail. Every effort will be made to send a notification e-mail by 2:00 p.m. on any day that the fields will be closed. If e-mails are not sent or not received, the red flags are the determining factor regarding field closures. Failure to abide by the Red Flag Notification Policy may result in permanent loss of field privileges.
