Bob Fahler, Principal
Bob Fahler became principal of Colonial Middle School (CMS) in February of 2002. During his tenure, he has promoted two daily goals for himself, his staff, and his students: Be Nice and Do Your Best. He and his staff have pledged to make all decisions based on the philosophy of "What's best for kids."
Mr. Fahler came to the Colonial School District as assistant principal at CMS in 2002. Previously, he taught high school math in the Northampton Area School District. Mr. Fahler also coached high school varsity football and basketball while at Northampton. Additionally, he served as an assistant basketball coach at Parkland High School.
During his 18 year teaching career at Northampton, Fahler was a member of the Student Assistance Team, Principal's Steering Committee, and taught Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, Trigonometry, and Calculus. Mr. Fahler holds a B.S. and an instructional II teaching certification from Muhlenberg College. He holds a M.S. and administration certification from Marywood University.

Maico Azcona, Assistant Principal
Azcona joined the Colonial School District as Colonial Middle School assistant principal in December 2003. Previously, he taught biology and marine science at North Penn High School for four years. Mr. Azcona was co-director of the New Teacher Induction program, coordinated the High School Summer Intervention Program, was a member of the District Professional Development Staff and served as a Recruitment Team Member, and acted as an Alternative Disciplinary Procedure Consultant. Previously he taught biology, general science and technology at Mastbaum High School, Audenried High School and Julia de Burgos Bilingual Middle School in Philadelphia. He is proficient in Spanish and posses a working understanding of Italian, Portuguese and French.
Mr. Azcona holds a bachelor’s degree and Elementary and Secondary Principal Certification from Temple University, and Master’s degree in Secondary Education from La Salle University. |

Dr. Katy Giovanisci, Assistant Principal
Dr. Giovanisci joined the Colonial Middle School staff in 2008 after six years in the Wissahickon School District, where she served as a middle school language arts teacher and staff development specialist. She was awarded the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit/Freedom Credit Union “Voices of Inspiration” Award for Teaching Excellence in May 2008.
A graduate of Plymouth Whitemarsh High School, Dr. Giovanisci holds a Bachelor’s degree from the Pennsylvania State University and master’s and doctorate degrees from St. Joseph’s University. |
